Scalable platform that supports Jewish literacy

The challenge

The original PJ Our Way site was slow and difficult to maintain, and failed to meet user expectations for interactive experiences. The platform needed to handle up to 50,000 users and 5,000 concurrent sessions while serving two distinct audiences — children and parents — with different interfaces, content and permissions.

Our solution

  • Implemented Kentico MVC architecture with web farms and layered caching for improved performance.
  • Built a split-view interface letting users toggle between child and parent modes with tailored layouts.
  • Developed gamification features tracking badges for reading activities with custom backend logic.
  • Created custom admin modules for simplified management of books, events and user data.
  • Integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system via a custom API.
  • Added content staging, versioning, an onboarding tour and accessibility improvements.
